square-starEditor's Choice

Editor’s Choice is a curated block on the Crimson homepage that highlights a small set of hand-picked posts. It’s designed to spotlight your best or most important content in a compact “featured picks” layout.

A key visual detail: this section always uses a dark background, regardless of:

  • Light/Dark mode

  • Theme color mode settings

  • The dark mode toggle button

So it remains visually consistent as a “special” editorial area.

Editor's choice in Crimson

What it shows

Maximum posts

  • Displays up to 4 posts.

Which posts qualify

A post will show in Editor’s Choice only if it has the internal tag: #editors-choice

If there are more than 4 matching posts

  • Crimson will pick the latest 4 posts (newest first) that have #editors-choice.

When the section appears

  • ✅ If there is at least 1 post tagged #editors-choice, the section is rendered.

  • ❌ If there are 0 posts tagged #editors-choice, the entire Editor’s Choice section is hidden (it will not render at all).

This keeps the homepage clean — you won’t see an empty block.

How to add a post to Editor’s Choice

  1. Open the post in Ghost Admin

  2. Click Post settings (sidebar)

  3. Under Tags, add: #editors-choice

  4. Click Update / Publish

That post is now eligible to show inside the Editor’s Choice section.

Because the section only shows the latest 4 matching posts, you can “rotate” your picks by adding/removing #editors-choice from posts over time.

Troubleshooting

chevron-rightEditor’s Choice section is not visible.hashtag

Check:

  • Do you have at least one published post tagged #editors-choice?

  • Are the posts actually published (not drafts)?

If no matching posts exist, Crimson will hide the entire section by design.

chevron-rightI tagged more than 4 posts but only 4 show.hashtag

That’s expected:

  • Crimson shows at most 4

  • and picks the latest 4 posts with #editors-choice.
